GLOBAL SUSTAINABILITY AWARDS 2024 PLAN

Applications OPEN for:
Schools, Educators, Students, NGOs & Startups

OBJECTIVE OF THE AWARDS:

The objective of these awards is to recognize and reward the efforts of schools, teachers, students, NGOs and Startups towards sustainability to make this world a better place. This initiative will also help us push for Agenda 2030. It will encourage schools to take definitive steps towards Education for Sustainable Development. It will also provide the institutions and individuals a platform to showcase their efforts towards a sustainable future. At the same time, this will spread awareness about the best sustainability practices across the world, enabling others to learn from them.

There are multiple awards for:

  • SCHOOLS
  • EDUCATORS
  • STUDENTS
  • NGOs
  • STARTUPS

All students (from grade 5 to grade 12), teachers at K12 schools, and schools (educating students between primary grades and 12th grade), which believe in the spirit of the UN SDGs, are eligible to apply for these awards. This year we are also inviting NGOs and Startups (working on social impact) to participate in the awards.

There are 2 ROUNDS for all categories.

First round: Fill the google form (links in the section below) by 15th Jun 2024

Results of the first round will be announced by 15th Aug 2024

 

Second round: Video submissions (invitations will be sent after 15th Aug 2024)

 

Tentative event ceremony date: 15th and 16th Nov 2024

 

TENTATIVE VENUE: CD Deshmukh Auditorium, India International Center, New Delhi
There is NO APPLICATION FEE (or any other hidden charges at this stage or any later stage) for these Awards.

 

No effort is too small, especially when it is for a good cause. So, apply now and inspire others!

SCHOOL AWARDS:

• All schools (educating students between primary grades and 12th grade) from any nation are eligible to apply
• These awards are for the institution and NOT for any individual person
• Projects and activities completed within the last 1 year (from Nov 2022 – till date)
• There is NO fees at any stage of the awards

You will need around 20 to 30 minutes to complete the entire form.

 

EDUCATOR AWARDS:

As a teacher/educator:
• Have you innovated to educate students about sustainability and climate change?
• Have you managed projects related to SDGs?
If you answer is yes, do apply for the Global Sustainability Awards 2024 …
– All teachers (providing education from primary to grade 12) are eligible to apply
– These awards are for individuals only
– Please only fill out projects completed within the last one year (from Nov 2022 – till date)
– There is NO fees at any stage of the awards
It will take around 10 to 15 minutes to complete the form.

As a student:

• Have your projects created a real impact on the life of others (including other living species)?
• Have you created awareness through campaigns (physical or online) about sustainability?
If you answer to any of the above questions is yes, do apply for the Global Sustainability Awards 2024 for students …
– All students of grade 5 to grade 12 are eligible to apply
– Students can apply individually or as a team of upto 4 students.
– Please only fill out projects completed within the last one year (from Nov 2022 – till date).

SDG Ambassadors for GSA 2024

SURJEET KHANNA – INDIA
Founder Principal, DPSGreater Faridabad( Retd), Consultant on School Governance, Edutrainer, Story Teller
She is a live wire eduleader with 37 years of zealous contribution to areas of school inception( DPS Roorke, DPSKhanna, DPSBikaner, DPS Kashipur), transformative strategies, curriculum innovation, implementation of NEP-20, school governance and all matters educational.

Surjeet Khanna is recipient of several distinguished national and international awards ,including recent ones of National Bharat Ratan Award, SK Bhattacharya National Award, Pride of India Award and AKS Lifetime Achievement Award.

MARCELA ALEJANDRA VILLÁN – ARGENTINA

Marcela Alejandra Villán qualified as a Teacher of English in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1996. She got a TESOL certification some years later.

She has worked in the field for more than 30 years, preparing a great number of students for all kinds of Cambridge examinations.

Marcela supports the United Nations 2030 Agenda. She firmly believes in its inclusion in the classrooms as she has been a TeachSDGs ambassador since 2019.

She is connected with numerous Organizations that work for the betterment of Education

AYSE AYDOGAN GEZER – TURKEY

Ayse is a classroom teacher and also a Project Coordinator at Yenimahalle Campus College. She has been an educator for 19 years. She studied language in America for five years. She took part in many national and international conferences and projects. In her school, she implements the education curriculum on Sustainable Development Goals. By implementing climate change projects, she integrates them into lessons and she does awareness activities with the students. She believes that raising strong children is easier than mending troubled adults.

PUNAM SINGHAL – INDIA

After four decades dedicated to education, Punam Singhal retired as the Head of School from The Paras World School. Her journey includes founding roles as Principal at GEMS Modern Academy Gurgaon and Global Indian International School Noida, where she carved pathways of excellence in educational leadership.

Under her guidance, students became advocates for the SDGs within their communities and societies, reflecting Punam’s commitment to to shaping a brighter, more sustainable future for generations to come.

ABHISHEK BAGCHI – INDIA

Abhishek has more than 25 years of experience in education, with more than 10 years in leadership positions.
He worked with reputed organisations like GEMS Education, PEARSON, Birla Group, MIT Pune, etc. and helped build several schools from scratch. He worked as a founder member of the first GEMS school in Eastern India, worked in Dubai as an educator and technology integrator, worked with the global giant PEARSON as the Manager Academics East looking after 6 schools in West Bengal and also worked in a Birla School as a Principal. He has trained more than 10,000 students and more than 300 teachers in his career so far. At present, he is working as a Director of MIT World Peace School group in Pune.
